André Christl, CEO Heraeus Precious Metals, will hand over the management of the company to Dr. Steffen Metzger and Dr. Stefan Staubach, effective June 1st, 2024. The two will lead Heraeus Precious Metals together as Co-CEOs in the future.
André Christl has been CEO of Heraeus Precious Metals since 2017. Under his leadership, the company has become a fully integrated supplier for precious metal products and services. The global recycling capacities for platinum group metals were massively expanded and the gold and silver business of Swiss-based Argor-Heraeus was fully integrated. In addition, significantly intensified R&D activities resulted in numerous innovative new products, such as today's Hydrogen Systems business line.
André Christl is leaving the company at the end of May at his own request and for personal reasons.
Jan Rinnert, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the Heraeus Group expressed his gratitude for André Christl's contribution: “With his strategic vision and team-oriented management style, André Christl has developed a very successful company. Heraeus Precious Metals is far ahead of the industry in many important areas such as digitalization, diversity and sustainability and is now a recognized global market leader. I would like to thank André Christl for his outstanding commitment and wish him all the best for the future.”
Steffen Metzger is currently a member of the Group Management Committee of the Heraeus Group, where he is responsible for the Business Platform Semiconductor and Electronics. Metzger studied physics and mathematics and holds a doctorate in mathematical physics. Before joining Heraeus, Dr. Steffen Metzger worked in management consulting and in various management positions at the semiconductor manufacturer Infineon.
Stefan Staubach studied business administration and holds a doctorate in business administration. He started his career in investment banking and private equity and has been with Heraeus since the beginning of 2016. In 2019 he was appointed as CFO of Heraeus Precious Metals and is currently responsible for finance, precious metals controlling, processes, IT, purchasing and PMCE (Precious Metals Compliance Experts).
Regarding the appointment of Steffen Metzger and Stefan Staubach, Rinnert expressed his confidence in the new management: “I am delighted that with Steffen Metzger and Stefan Staubach we have been able to recruit two internal candidates for this important position for the entire Heraeus Group. I am certain that the new management duo will continue the success story of Heraeus Precious Metals.”
